Our mission!
Breeding dogs that help us find joy in the little things in life!
We breed dogs because of the impact they have made on our lives!
My first dog Tootsie was a mixed breed that I rescued when I was a young teen. She was starved and had been beaten and was abandoned and had to survive by eating chickens she caught. When I found her I was a scared 12 year old girl who’s family had just fallen apart. We were both broken. We were the crutch each other leaned on to learn to walk again. She learned to trust people because of the gentleness I showed her. I never owned a leash she never left my side! I was able to conquer my debilitating fears with her by my side! We shared many hours of play together. My tears soaked her fur many times! But we grew and recovered and because of that connection when I could I wanted to breed dogs that could help others!
Bryan also knew the impact a good dog can have on a person especially in the formative years. His dog was Sunny “Nunny” was a sweet golden retriever. She was by his side when imminent domain took their family home and was there to comfort him!
By God's grace He brought Bryan and me together and Bryan has encouraged me further on my journey to thriving not just surviving! He has supported me in my dreams and goals!
We found the Havanese breed and though they look nothing like my Tootsie did, their essence, their searching looks, their compassion and love that flows out of them was what I was looking for! On days when I find it difficult to find the energy to do what needs to be done Ringo is always happy to greet me and give me a hug and Penny always makes me laugh at her joy in finding a sock! Too many things to tell here…
So, here we are! I hope whether you are looking for a Tootsie or a Nunny we can help you find the dog that can help you grow and find joy in all the little things!

Why buy a puppy from Hoodview Havanese?
When you buy a puppy from Hoodview Havanese you’re not only getting 2-4 pounds of wiggle and fluff. You are getting the product of careful selection, caring and testing of its parents, research based Early Neurological Stimulation and of course many (much enjoyed) hours of socialization. We also use Badass Breeder protocol to empower our puppies so that they are calm and secure and not fearful. Your puppy will have a solid foundation to build on. It will already have a solid trust in people and a head start on crate training and house breaking. I will also be a support to you as you embark on this new chapter to be available to answer any questions that come up as you go.
What is an ethical breeder?
That question is easier answered by defining what are not ethical breeding practices.
Un-ethical practices include breeding dogs that have no health testing, breeding more puppies that you have homes for, keeping dogs in unhealthy, unsocial conditions just for the purpose of producing puppies, Raising puppies without adequate socialization, breeding dogs when it is not healthy for them to be having puppies, selling puppies to anyone who has the requisite dollars without screening buyers, not providing ongoing support in case problems arise, I could go on…
We strive to be ethical breeders! Which means we do not breed a litter unless the parent dogs have been health tested and temperament tested so as not to produce puppies with problems down the road. We plan our breedings ahead of time and line up homes for the potential puppies. So most of the time when we get asked do you have any puppies available the answer is no because the people we bred them for are waiting for them!
Also we do not sell people a puppy unless they have passed our screening process. Not everyone who has the purchase price is welcome to one of our puppies, you need to be prepared for a puppy and committed to raising it too!
Our dogs live with us in our home not a kennel (unless they live with a guardian) and are kept in excellent condition body, coat and mind! Our dogs are our pets our babies, our kids best friends! And we always put their best interest before the desires of our clients!
Doing right by our dogs brings the best out in them and our puppies so our clients are the ones who ultimately benefit though so we will keep striving to better our practices and therefore breed better dogs!
